At this year's National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) conference, Commission Executive Director Josh Schimmel was presented with the President's Award by NACWA's 2021-2022 President Kishia Powell, COO and Executive Vice President of DC Water.
The President's Award is presented to individuals who make significant contributions toward achieving NACWA's collective goals and objectives. Mr. Schimmel was selected due to his leadership and contributions to NACWA’s advocacy efforts in the areas of funding and affordability, and overall contributions to the organization. In April 2022 Mr. Schimmel testified before the U.S. Senate to share the perspective of public clean water utilities and influence the implementation of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Mr. Schimmel was also recognized for his participation on the NACWA Board's Affordability Task Force, and his consistent focus on State Revolving Fund streamlining and biosolids management issues.
"Your consistent support and engagement in ensuring NACWA’s advocacy is elevating clean water, and the extraordinary work of our nation’s utilities make you an excellent choice for this award," Ms. Powell said.
