
The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission is excited to welcome members of the public to join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Springfield Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility and learn what happens after you flush!
Learn how wastewater from Springfield, Agawam, East Longmeadow, Longmeadow, Ludlow, West Springfield, and Wilbraham is cleaned and treated before being safely returned to the Connecticut River.

Event Details:
- Closed toe shoes required.
- Attendees do not need to be Commission customers to participate.
- All ages are welcome, but the tour may be best suited for children ages 10 and older.
- The tour involves a significant amount of walking both indoors and outdoors, including stairs and a variety of walking surfaces.
- Participants must arrive by 10:15 AM to join the tour.

Accessible from US-5 North or South. From US-5 take the M Street exit ramp. At the bottom of the ramp take a left on to M Street, continue driving (past waste facility) until you see a large sign, entrance way, and security gate for the Springfield Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility (SRWTF).
At the gate, please use the call button and let the operator know you are here for the tour. Proceed through the gate.
Location and Parking
Parking for the SRWTF is located in front of the treatment plant (visible from the entrance gate); Additional parking is on both sides of the plant. Please enter the lobby through the main entrance.
